Haworthia forms tight clusters of offsets around the base, and separating an offset that already has roots is by far the easiest and most reliable method — far more so than leaf cuttings, which rarely work on this plant.
Offsets / division
- Remove the plant from its pot.
- Find offsets around the base, ideally with their own roots.
- Gently separate by hand or cut with a clean blade.
- Let cut offsets dry 1–2 days if separated with a cut.
- Pot in dry succulent mix; don’t water for a week if callused.
When to propagate
Spring and summer.
Common problems
Offset has no roots yet. Pot it anyway in dry mix and wait — most Haworthia offsets root within a few weeks even without prior roots.
Rot after potting. Skipped callusing, or watered too soon.
