Dragon fruit roots readily from a stem section, similar to prickly pear. Let the cut end callus for at least a week — this thick, moisture-heavy stem needs longer than most cacti to seal properly.
Stem cutting
- Cut a 6–8 inch section from mature stem.
- Let callus 7–10 days in a dry, shaded spot.
- Insert the bottom 2 inches into dry, well-draining mix.
- Water sparingly at first.
