How to Propagate Tiger Jaws

Faucaria tigrina

Methods Division, offsets, seed
Difficulty Beginner
Best season Spring–summer
Time to root 2–4 weeks
Group Succulent

This toothy-looking succulent clusters and divides readily, similar to Haworthia. Separating rooted offsets is the easiest and most reliable method.

Division / offsets

  1. Remove the plant from its pot.
  2. Separate rosette clusters by hand, keeping roots with each.
  3. Pot in dry succulent mix.

When to propagate

Spring and summer.

Common problems

Division rotted. Let cut surfaces dry a day or two if separated with a cut, and water sparingly afterward.

Questions people ask

Are the “teeth” sharp? They’re soft, harmless projections, not truly sharp — just decorative, resembling jaws.
