Sage roots reasonably well from cuttings but, like rosemary, does best from semi-hardwood growth in a fast-draining mix — soft new tips tend to wilt and rot before rooting.

- Take a 4-inch semi-hardwood cutting.
- Strip lower leaves.
- Insert into sandy, well-draining mix.
